How to have good time in BRATISLAVA

Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia. It has everything you want in a city. It's beautiful (they call it "Beauty on the Danube"), it has old and new buildings, the food is delicious and the beer is cheap and tasty.

When to go

There are reasons to go to Bratislava all year around. The best times to visit Spring and Summer. In summer it is very hot.

Where to stay

There are many hotels, from five star hotels to hostels. But the best way to see Bratislava is to stay with friends. People here are lovely and hospitable.

What to do

Bratislava has many big and small theatres (the Slovak National Theatre Opera and Ballet, Nová Scéna, Radošinské Naivné Divadlo, Astorka... ), and centres of culture like the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, The Slovak National Gallery, Bratislava City Gallery, The Slovak National Museum. There are multiplex and art cinemas and film festivals. There are also exhibition spaces (from the biggest, Incheba to small design galleries).

There are many five bridges and a harbour on the Danube River. On the top of SNP bridge you can eat in the “UFO restaurant” and see the city.

There are many shopping centres, but also small, specialized shops (úľuv - The Centre For Folk Art Production or Kompot shop) and you can buy local food, such as Bratislava rolls at markets, such “Dobrý Trh” (Old Market Hall), Trnavské Mýto market hall, Miletičova. In the winter, you can visit Christmas Markets in the Main Square and Hviezdoslav Square. In Autumn, you can visit local wine festivals and tastings. There is a “Small Carpathians Wine Route .   • Sport
  • During the season you can see Bratislava’s Slovan against international teams in the KHL hockey league and football leagues.
  • You can also see Slovak tennis players play with best international players in the National Tennis Centre.
  • You can run, jog, bicycle next to the Danube river. You can swim in many lakes (Štrkovec, Kuchajda, Zlaté Piesky, Dráždiak, Čunovo...) In one of them, Zlaté Piesky, there are water sports. You can also go canoeing and kayaking in the Danube river.
  • You can also walk in the Small Carpathians and around many city parks.

There are restaurants from many countries - Chinese, Asian, Indian, Japanese, Arabic, Czech, Mexican, Hungarian..
There is the only Peruvian restaurant in Central Europe.

How to travel

You can get to Bratislava by plane, by express train, by bus, and by Danube.
There is a complex system of public transport: buses, trams, trolleys,
You can also use taxi service.
The Old City is small enough to walk or you can use the “Prešporáčik” tourist city train.
You can travel the Danube river on a ship to Devín, Wien and Budapest.
